Discontinued Atlas Chalet Shingles

If your roof has damaged Atlas Chalet shingles, you may qualify for a full roof replacement through your homeowners insurance, less your deductible and subject to your policy.

What Are Atlas Chalet Shingles?

Atlas Chalet shingles were designed as a budget-friendly 3-tab shingle made to mimic the look of true architectural shingles at a lower price. Homeowners have reported cracking, blistering, and granule loss. Atlas discontinued the Chalet line in mid-2010, so matching newly manufactured Chalet shingles are no longer available.

How to Identify Atlas Chalet Shingles

Keyways

Visible tab slots are present, which is unlike typical architectural shingles.

Shadow Lines

Dark bands are printed on the surface to simulate layers and depth.

Three Tabs

They are fundamentally a 3-tab shingle design, not a dimensional laminate.

Why Damage May Mean a Full Roof Replacement

Because Atlas Chalet is discontinued, the exact product is unavailable newly manufactured. While we cannot assume all repairs are impossible, covered storm damage and the lack of a suitable, matching, and compatible repair shingle may support a broader or full roof replacement. This is entirely subject to your policy terms and deductible, and your insurer ultimately decides. Wear, age, and manufacturing defects alone are generally not covered.

Insurance Restoration & HAAG Certified Experts

Roughly 80% of our work is insurance restoration. Our HAAG Certified inspectors know exactly how to document storm damage and guide the entire process—from the initial inspection and meeting with the adjuster to reviewing the scope of work and completing the final installation.

Atlas Chalet Shingle FAQs

Are Atlas Chalet shingles still made?

No. Atlas discontinued the Chalet product line in mid-2010. Newly manufactured Chalet shingles are not available; an inspection can help determine the product on your roof and whether a suitable, compatible repair is possible.

Will insurance pay for my whole roof?

You may qualify for a full replacement when covered storm damage cannot be repaired with suitable matching materials, subject to your policy, the documented damage, and your insurer's coverage decision. Any approved payment is less your deductible. Discontinuation, ordinary aging, or a manufacturing defect alone does not guarantee coverage. Our HAAG Certified inspectors document the damage and repair limitations to support your claim.

How do I know if I have them?

Look for a three-tab pattern with visible keyways and dark shadow lines that imitate architectural shingles. These are clues, not proof. Exterior Genie can inspect the shingles and review any leftover packaging or installation records to help identify the product. Do not climb onto your roof to check.
